Scale Overview
The Attachment to Teacher – Rochester Youth Development Study (RYDS) was developed by Smith, C., Lizotte, A.J., Thornberry, T.P., & Krohn, M.D. (1995). It is designed to measure Attachment to teacher. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and middle school youth.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 5 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly agree (Items 1-4) / In some ways (Item 5), 2 = Agree (Items 1-4) / In most ways (Item 5), 3 = Strongly disagree (Items 1-4) / Not at all (Item 5), 4 = Disagree (Items 1-4).
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
