Scale Overview
The Asian American Racism-Related Stress Inventory – AARRSI was developed by Christopher T. H. Liang, Lisa C. Li, and Bryan S. K. Kim (2004). It is designed to measure Racism-Related Stress. The scale is intended for use with Asian Americans.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = This has never happened to me or someone I know, 2 = This event happened but did not bother me, 3 = This event happened and I was slightly bothered, 4 = This event happened and I was upset, 5 = This event happened and I was extremely upset.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 29 to 145. Interpretation guidelines:
Low Racism-Related Stress: 29 – 58
Moderate Racism-Related Stress: 59 – 100
High Racism-Related Stress: 101 – 145
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
