Scale Overview
The Anger and Support Scale – AAS was developed by Jaquaye Russell (2013). It is designed to measure Youth Emotional Support. The scale is intended for use with Youth / Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Mildly Disagree, 3 = Agree and Disagree equally, 4 = Mildly Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 6 to 30. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Anger Support: 6 – 14
- Moderate Anger Support: 15 – 22
- High Anger Support: 23 – 30
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
