Scale Overview
The Aggressive Sexual Behavior Inventory – ASBI was developed by Donald L. Mosher, Ronald D. Anderson (1986). It is designed to measure Sexual Aggression. The scale is intended for use with College men and adult males.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Sexual Force, Drugs and Alcohol, Verbal Manipulation, Angry Rejection, Anger Expression, Threat.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = Extremely frequent.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 20 to 140. Interpretation guidelines:
- No reported sexually aggressive behaviors: 20 – 20
- Indicates presence of sexually aggressive behaviors: 21 – 140
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha of .94 for the 20-item scale, .87 for the 10-item short form.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
