Scale Overview
The Aggressive Fantasies Scale – AFS was developed by Nadel, Spellmann, Alvarez-Canino, Lausell-Bryant & Landsberg (1996). It is designed to measure Aggressive Fantasies. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (Middle school students, grades 6-8).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = No, 1 = A little, 2 = A lot.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 14. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low level of aggressive fantasies: 0 – 4
- Moderate level of aggressive fantasies: 5 – 9
- High level of aggressive fantasies: 10 – 14
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
