Scale Overview
The Aggression Towards Parents—High Risk Behavioral Assessment was developed by S. Dolan (1989). It is designed to measure Exposure to aggressive family behavior. The scale is intended for use with Students aged 8-18.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Exposure to Peer Aggression, Self Aggression, Exposure to Parental Aggression, Running Away Behavior.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 8. Interpretation guidelines:
- No reported exposure or involvement: 0 – 0
- Low exposure/involvement: 1 – 3
- Moderate exposure/involvement: 4 – 6
- High exposure/involvement: 7 – 8
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not reported.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
