Scale Overview
The Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire – ACE-Q was developed by Vincent J. Felitti, Robert F. Anda, et al. (1998). It is designed to measure Adverse Childhood Experiences. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Abuse, Neglect, Household Dysfunction.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 10. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low to Moderate Risk: 0 – 3
- High Risk (Clinically Significant): 4 – 10
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
