Scale Overview
The Adolescents’ Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire–Extended (AERSQ-E) was developed by Gustaf Rådman, Benjamin Claréus, & Daiva Daukantaitė (2024). It is designed to measure Emotion Regulation. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (ages 12-20).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 23 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Rumination/Negative Thinking, Positive Reorientation, Creative Expression, Aggressive Outlet, Social Support, Distraction.

Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Rarely, 3 = Sometimes, 4 = Often, 5 = Very often.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Acceptable to high internal consistency across subscales, except distraction..
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
