Scale Overview
The Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument – APRI was developed by Roberto H. Parada (2000). It is designed to measure Bullying and Victimization. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 36 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Verbal Bullying, Social Bullying, Physical Bullying, Verbal Victimization, Social Victimization, Physical Victimization.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Verbal Bullying | 1,3,5,7,10,14 | 6 |
| Social Bullying | 4,8,11,13,17,18 | 6 |
| Physical Bullying | 2,6,9,12,15,16 | 6 |

| Social Victimization | 21,24,27,30,32,35 | 6 |
| Physical Victimization | 20,23,26,28,33,34 | 6 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Sometimes, 3 = Once or twice a month, 4 = Once a week, 5 = Several times a week, 6 = Everyday.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 6 to 36. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low frequency of behaviors/experiences: 6 – 12
- Moderate frequency of behaviors/experiences: 13 – 24
- High frequency of behaviors/experiences: 25 – 36
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
