Scale Overview
The Adolescent Defending Behaviors Questionnaire (ADBQ) was developed by Wang, Zixuan; Laninga-Wijnen, Lydia; Garandeau, Claire F.; Liu, Junsheng (2023). It is designed to measure Defending behaviors in bullying situations. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 19 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Assertive defending, Aggressive defending, Comforting victims, Reporting to authority, Tactical defending.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha: .78 to .93.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
