Scale Overview
The Adolescent Assertiveness Assessment Scale (AAA-S) was developed by Sara Luize Pereira de Lima, Shirley de Souza Silva Simeão, Washington Allysson Dantas Silva, Melyssa Kellyane Cavalcanti Galdino (2024). It is designed to measure Adolescent Assertiveness. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (ages 12-18).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never or rarely, 2 = Sometimes, 3 = Often, 4 = Always/almost always.
The scale includes 9 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 20 to 80. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Assertiveness: 20 – 39
- Moderate Assertiveness: 40 – 59
- High Assertiveness: 60 – 80
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
