Scale Overview
The Adjustment Inventory Questionnaire (AIQ) was developed by Shamshad & Jasbir (1984). It is designed to measure Adjustment. The scale is intended for use with Students and young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 275 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Home Adjustment, Health Adjustment, Social Adjustment, Emotional Adjustment, Educational Adjustment.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
The scale includes 146 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 275. Interpretation guidelines:
- Excellent Adjustment: 0 – 50
- Good Adjustment: 51 – 100
- Average Adjustment: 101 – 150
- Unsatisfactory Adjustment: 151 – 200
- Very Unsatisfactory Adjustment: 201 – 275
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency and test-retest reliability (typically > 0.85).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
