Scale Overview
The ABC Connectedness to Nature Scale – ABC-CNS was developed by Esther Cuadrado, Luis Macias-Zambrano, Antonio J. Carpio, Carmen Tabernero (2023). It is designed to measure Connectedness to Nature. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Cognitive Connectedness, Affective Connectedness, Behavioral Connectedness.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 15 to 75. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Connectedness to Nature: 15 – 35
- Moderate Connectedness to Nature: 36 – 55
- High Connectedness to Nature: 56 – 75
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha: .73 – .96.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
