THANATOLOGY

noun. the analysis of death-related actions, thoughts, emotions, and phenomena. Death was primarily the province of theology until the 1960’s, whenever existential thinkers and a wide array of care providers, trachers, and social and behavioral scientists focused their attention on death-related matters.
