PRIMING

Cognitive psychology term for an effect caused by the repeated experience of a stimulus. Priming states that the effect of repeated exposure to a stimulus will facilitate or inhibit the processing of the same stimulus after repeated exposure. In repetition priming suggests that repeated exposure to a particular stimulus will cause a subject to identify the same stimulus later in the test. Semantic priming holds the same effect with words or signs.
