Scale Overview
The Revised Sociosexual Orientation Inventory – SOI-R was developed by Lars Penke & Jens B. Asendorpf (2008). It is designed to measure Sociosexual orientation. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 0 partners / Strongly disagree / Never, 2 = 1 partner / Disagree / Very seldom, 3 = 2 to 3 partners / Neutral / About once a month, 4 = 4 to 7 partners / Agree / About once a week, 5 = 8 or more partners / Strongly agree / Nearly every day.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Dimensional score (higher scores indicate more unrestricted sociosexuality): 1 – 5
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
