The Sexual Problems Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SPSAQ) was developed by Elizabeth Rae Larson, Malcolm H. McKay (2005). It is designed to measure Sexual and relationship satisfaction. The scale is intended for use with Adults in clinical sex therapy settings.

This instrument consists of 58 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Overall Satisfaction, Socio-Cultural, Political, or Economic Factors, Relationships, Psychological Factors, Physical Factors.

Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Yes / Very / Agree, 100 = No / Not at all / Disagree.
The scale includes 12 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- Lower distress / higher satisfaction: 0 – 50
- Higher distress / lower satisfaction: 51 – 100
