The Aspects of Identity Questionnaire – AIQ-IV was developed by Jonathan M. Cheek & Stephen R. Briggs (2002). It is designed to measure Identity Orientations. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.

This instrument consists of 45 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Personal Identity, Relational Identity, Social Identity, Collective Identity, Special Items.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not important to my sense of who I am, 2 = Slightly important to my sense of who I am, 3 = Somewhat important to my sense of who I am, 4 = Very important to my sense of who I am, 5 = Extremely important to my sense of who I am.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Subscale alpha coefficients typically range from .70 to .85.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
