Scale Overview
The Sexual History Form – Global Sexual Functioning (SHF-GSF) was developed by Laura Creti, Catherine S. Fichten, Rhonda Amsel, William Brender, Leslie R. Schover, Dennis Kalogeropoulos, Eva Libman (1988). It is designed to measure Global Sexual Functioning. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 24 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Frequency of Sexual Activities, Sexual Desire, Initiation and Communication, Arousal, Orgasm, Erectile Function, Satisfaction.

Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 0 to 1. Interpretation guidelines:
- Better Sexual Functioning: 0 – 0
- Poorer Sexual Functioning / Potential Dysfunction: 0 – 1
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Temporal stability: .92 – .98; Internal consistency: .50 – .70.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
