The Orgasm Rating Scale – ORS was developed by Kenneth Mah, Yitzchak M. Binik (2002). It is designed to measure Psychological experience of orgasm. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 40 items organized into 10 factors/subscales: Building Sensations, Flooding Sensations, Flushing Sensations, Shooting Sensations, Throbbing Sensations, General Spasms, Emotional Intimacy, Ecstasy, Pleasurable Satisfaction, Relaxation.

Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Does Not Describe It At All, 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = Describes It Perfectly.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 140. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Intensity/Satisfaction: 0 – 28
- Moderate Intensity/Satisfaction: 29 – 84
- High Intensity/Satisfaction: 85 – 140
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alphas ranging from .88 to .92.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
