Scale Overview
The New Sexual Satisfaction Scale – NSSS was developed by Aleksandar Štulfhofer, Vesna Buško, Pamela Brouillard (2010). It is designed to measure Sexual Satisfaction. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Ego-Focused, Partner and Activity-Focused, Short Form (NSSS-S).

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all Satisfied, 2 = A Little Satisfied, 3 = Moderately Satisfied, 4 = Very Satisfied, 5 = Extremely Satisfied.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 20 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- Full NSSS Score Range (higher scores indicate greater satisfaction): 20 – 100
- NSSS-S Short Form Score Range (higher scores indicate greater satisfaction): 12 – 60
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = .94–.96 (Full Scale), .90–.93 (Short Form).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
