Scale Overview
The Religious Values Scale – RVS was developed by Everett L. Worthington Jr. (1988). It is designed to measure Religious Values. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 62 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Religious Commitment, Authority of Scripture, Preference for Similar Attitudes toward Scripture, Authority of Group Identification, Authority of Religious Leaders, Preference for Similar Attitudes toward Authority.

Response anchors: 1 = Not at all true of me, 2 = Somewhat true of me, 3 = Moderately true of me, 4 = Mostly true of me, 5 = Totally true of me.
The scale includes 4 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 62 to 310. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Religious Values Commitment: 62 – 144
- Moderate Religious Values Commitment: 145 – 227
- High Religious Values Commitment: 228 – 310

Administration
