Scale Overview
The Fragility of Happiness Scale – FOHS was developed by Mohsen Joshanloo (2015). It is designed to measure Fragility of happiness beliefs. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 4 to 28. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low belief in fragility of happiness: 4 – 11
- Moderate belief in fragility of happiness: 12 – 20
- High belief in fragility of happiness: 21 – 28
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Acceptable reliability across 15 cultures.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
