Scale Overview
The Satisfaction With Work Schedule Flexibility Scale – SWSFS was developed by T. J. Rothausen (1994). It is designed to measure Satisfaction with work schedule flexibility. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 5 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Very dissatisfied, 2 = Dissatisfied, 3 = Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, 4 = Satisfied, 5 = Very satisfied.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 5 to 25. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low satisfaction with flexibility: 5 – 12
- Moderate satisfaction with flexibility: 13 – 18
- High satisfaction with flexibility: 19 – 25
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha of 0.79.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
