Scale Overview
The Perceived Fairness in Goal Setting Scale was developed by Roberson, Q. M., Moye, N. A., & Locke, E. A. (1999). It is designed to measure Procedural justice perceptions in goal setting. The scale is intended for use with Employees.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 3 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = Extremely.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived fairness: 1 – 3
- Moderate perceived fairness: 4 – 6
- High perceived fairness: 7 – 9
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha of .94.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 1 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
