Scale Overview
The Feedback Instrument for Rescue Force Development – Emergency Training (FIRE-E) was developed by Schulte, Babiel, Messinger, & Thielsch (2019). It is designed to measure Feedback on practical emergency training exercises in rescue force education. The scale is intended for use with Rescue forces and firefighters in training.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat disagree, 4 = Neutral, 5 = Somewhat agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low training quality perception: 1 – 3
- Moderate training quality perception: 4 – 5
- High training quality perception: 6 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of McDonald's Omega = .87.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 1 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
