Scale Development & Technical Details
Scale Overview
The Feedback Tool for Rescue Force Development Examinations (FIRE-P) was developed by Busjan, Frerichs, & Thielsch (2017). It is designed to measure Exam evaluation in rescue force training. The scale is intended for use with Rescue force and fire brigade trainees.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 24 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Preparation, Design, Load, Framework Conditions, Bias Variables, Feedback, Global Rating.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Preparation | 1,2,3,8 | 4 |
| Design | 4,5,6,7,9 | 5 |
| Load | 10,11,12 | 3 |
| Framework Conditions | 13,14,15,16,17 | 5 |
| Bias Variables | 18,19,20,21 | 4 |
| Feedback | 22,23 | 2 |
| Global Rating | 24 | 1 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat disagree, 4 = Neutral, 5 = Somewhat agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = .76 to .86.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
