Scale Overview
The Feedback Instrument for Rescue Force Development – Seminars and One-day Events (FIRE-ST) was developed by Schulte & Thielsch (2019). It is designed to measure Training quality evaluation for rescue forces. The scale is intended for use with Rescue forces (firefighters, emergency medical services).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Instructor Behavior, Level of Difficulty, Structure, Competence Acquisition, Transfer.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Instructor Behavior | 1,2,3,4,5,6 | 6 |
| Level of Difficulty | 7,8,9 | 3 |
| Structure | 10,11,12 | 3 |
| Competence Acquisition | 13,14,15,16,17 | 5 |
| Transfer | 18,19,20 | 3 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low agreement / Poor evaluation: 1 – 3
- Moderate agreement / Satisfactory evaluation: 4 – 5
- High agreement / Excellent evaluation: 6 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha >= .74, McDonald's omega >= .76.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
