The Occupational and Organizational Climate Index – BOKX was developed by Bernd Schmid (2009). It is designed to measure Occupational and Organizational Climate (Meaningfulness and Competence). The scale is intended for use with Working adults (employees and self-employed).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Meaningfulness, Competence.

| Meaningfulness | 1,3,5,7 | 4 |
| Competence | 2,4,6,8 | 4 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Completely true, 2 = Mostly true, 3 = Partially true, 4 = Barely true, 5 = Mostly not true, 6 = Not true at all.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 4 to 24. Interpretation guidelines:
- Very High (Strong agreement with the dimension): 4 – 8
- High: 9 – 12
- Moderate: 13 – 16
- Low: 17 – 20
- Very Low (Strong disagreement with the dimension): 21 – 24
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's Alpha = .70 to .89; McDonald's Omega = .71 to .90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
