Scale Overview
The Verbal Management Behaviour Scale – VMBS was developed by Gisela Mohr (2004). It is designed to measure Verbal Management Behaviour. The scale is intended for use with Employees.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all true, 2 = Slightly true, 3 = Moderately true, 4 = Mostly true, 5 = Completely true.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 6 to 30. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived verbal communication behavior: 6 – 14
- Moderate perceived verbal communication behavior: 15 – 22
- High perceived verbal communication behavior: 23 – 30
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.82.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
