Scale Overview
The Work-Family Conflict Scale (ISSP) was developed by International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) (2002). It is designed to measure Work-family conflict. The scale is intended for use with Employed adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Work interference with family, Family interference with work.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Once or twice, 3 = Several times a month, 4 = Several times a week.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 4 to 16. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low conflict: 4 – 8
- Moderate conflict: 9 – 12
- High conflict: 13 – 16
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = .50 to .85.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
