Scale Overview
The Münster Questionnaire for Evaluation – Discussion Module (MFE-ZDi) was developed by Meinald Thielsch, Ina Stegemöller, & Dirk Moeck (2010). It is designed to measure Course Evaluation (Discussions). The scale is intended for use with University students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat disagree, 4 = Neutral, 5 = Somewhat agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Negative evaluation of discussions: 1 – 3
- Neutral evaluation of discussions: 3 – 4
- Positive evaluation of discussions: 4 – 7
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = 0.79.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
