Scale Overview
The Five-Factor PERMA Profiler – Amharic Version was developed by Girum Tareke Zewude & Mária Hercz (2022). It is designed to measure Well-Being. The scale is intended for use with University instructors and adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Positive Emotion, Engagement, Positive Relationships, Meaning in Life, Accomplishment.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never / Not at all, 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = 9, 10 = Always / Completely.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 10. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Well-Being: 0 – 4
- Moderate Well-Being: 5 – 6
- High Well-Being: 7 – 8
- Very High Well-Being: 9 – 10
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Positive Emotion: α = 0.96; Engagement: α = 0.95; Positive Relationships: α = 0.95; Meaning in Life: α = 0.93; Accomplishment: α = 0.95.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
