Scale Overview
The Receiving Information Scale (RIS) was developed by International Communication Association (ICA) (1979). It is designed to measure Organizational Communication. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 13 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Very Little, 2 = Little, 3 = Some, 4 = Great, 5 = Very Great.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 13 to 65. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Information Received: 13 – 30
- Moderate Information Received: 31 – 47
- High Information Received: 48 – 65
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
