Scale Overview
The Academic Setting Evaluation Questionnaire (ASEQ) was developed by J. Fernandez & M. A. Mateo (1993). It is designed to measure Academic setting satisfaction. The scale is intended for use with University faculty.

This instrument consists of 33 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Satisfaction with working conditions, Social climate, Relationship with students.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Lowest level of agreement, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = Highest level of agreement.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 33 to 231. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low satisfaction: 33 – 99
- Moderate satisfaction: 100 – 165
- High satisfaction: 166 – 231
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Total alpha: 0.90; Working conditions/Social climate: 0.89; Relationship with students: 0.87.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
