Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Rarely, 2 = Sometimes, 3 = Often, 4 = Very Frequently.
The scale includes 11 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 41 to 164. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Bureaucratic Structure: 41 – 82
- Moderate Bureaucratic Structure: 83 – 123
- High Bureaucratic Structure: 124 – 164
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha: 0.94 (overall), 0.74-0.85 (subscales).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
