The School Principals’ Perceptions of Evaluation/Compensation Factors – SPPECF was developed by Cunningham, R. A. (1993). It is designed to measure Perceived importance of administrative evaluation and compensation criteria. The scale is intended for use with School principals and administrators.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Of No Importance, 2 = Of Little Importance, 3 = Moderately Important, 4 = Important, 5 = Critical.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 71 to 355. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived importance for evaluation/compensation: 71 – 142
- Moderate perceived importance for evaluation/compensation: 143 – 284
- High perceived importance for evaluation/compensation: 285 – 355
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Test-retest reliability reported as percentage of response agreements.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
