Scale Overview
The Stimulus-Response Inventory of Anxiousness – S-R Inventory of Anxiousness was developed by Norman S. Endler, J. McV. Hunt, Alvin J. Rosenstein (1962). It is designed to measure Anxiousness Responses. The scale is intended for use with Undergraduate students / Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 11 to 55. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Anxiousness: 11 – 22
- Moderate Anxiousness: 23 – 44
- High Anxiousness: 45 – 55
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha of .95 – .97.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
