Scale Overview
The Adolescent Strengths Use Scale – ASUS was developed by Ramazan Demir, Mehmet Murat, & Gökmen Arslan (2024). It is designed to measure Adolescent school-based strength use. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (Grades 7-12).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Very Poor, 2 = Poor, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Very Good.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 7 to 35. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low strength use: 7 – 17
- Moderate strength use: 18 – 28
- High strength use: 29 – 35
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = 0.82.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
