Scale Overview
The Anti-China Rhetoric Instrument – ACRI was developed by Yin, Peng; Ji, Feng; Blum, Alexander M. (2023). It is designed to measure Attitudes toward Anti-China Rhetoric. The scale is intended for use with Chinese international undergraduate students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = disagree completely, 1 = disagree somewhat, 2 = agree somewhat, 3 = agree completely.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 36. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low approval of anti-China rhetoric: 0 – 12
- Moderate approval of anti-China rhetoric: 13 – 24
- High approval of anti-China rhetoric: 25 – 36
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.85.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
