Scale Overview
The Antiracism and Nonracism Scale was developed by Jennifer LaCosse, Danielle Krusemark, Jennifer Foltz, E. Ashby Plant (2023). It is designed to measure Antiracist and nonracist beliefs. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

This instrument consists of 10 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Antiracism, Nonracism.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 5 to 45. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low endorsement of beliefs: 5 – 18
- Moderate endorsement of beliefs: 19 – 31
- High endorsement of beliefs: 32 – 45
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Antiracism subscale: McDonald's omega = .86; Nonracism subscale: McDonald's omega = .82.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
