Scale Overview
The Climate Change—Model Inventory (CC-MI) was developed by Zahra Asgarizadeh, Robert Gifford, Lauren Colborne (2023). It is designed to measure Climate Change Anxiety and its Predictors. The scale is intended for use with Adults (18 years and older).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 60 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Climate Change Knowledge, Personal Experience of Climate Change, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Climate Change Risk Perception, Climate Change Worry, Media Exposure About Climate Change Information, Climate Change Anxiety.

Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: Knowledge = Correct (1) / Incorrect (0), Experience / Worry / Anxiety = Never (1) to Almost always (5), GAD = Never (1) to Nearly every day (4), Risk Perception = 1 to 7 (e.g., Not serious at all to Very serious), Media Exposure = Never (1) to More than 10 times per day (9).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.85 to 0.95 across subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
