Scale Overview
The COVID-19 Social Stigma Scale was developed by Neti Juniarti, Raini Diah Susanti, Desy Indra Yani, Nurani Nurhasanah (2023). It is designed to measure COVID-19 Social Stigma. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Social distancing, Traditional prejudice, Exclusionary sentiments, Negative affect, Treatment carryover, Disclosure carryover, Perception of dangerousness.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Unsure, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 11 to 55. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived stigma: 11 – 25
- Moderate perceived stigma: 26 – 40
- High perceived stigma: 41 – 55
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.96.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
