Scale Overview
The COVID-blues Social Syndrome Scale was developed by Changhyun Ahn, Ghee Young Noh (2023). It is designed to measure COVID-related stress. The scale is intended for use with Adults (18 years and older).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 25 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Individual Loneliness, Fear, Social Anger, Socioeconomic Consequences.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 25 to 175. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low COVID-related stress: 25 – 75
- Moderate COVID-related stress: 76 – 125
- High COVID-related stress: 126 – 175
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.93.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
