Scale Overview
The Workplace Exploitation Scale – Wex-5 was developed by Krishnan, S. R. G., Gupta, S., Pereira, N. G., Sethuramalingam, V., Potter, A., Butola, S., Das, N. J., & Sathia, S. (2025). It is designed to measure Workplace exploitation. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 5 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Strongly disagree, 1 = Disagree, 2 = Neither agree nor disagree, 3 = Agree, 4 = Strongly agree.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 20. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low: 0 – 5
- Mild: 6 – 10
- Moderate: 11 – 15
- High: 16 – 20
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
