Scale Overview
The Disciplinary and Delinquent Behavior – SAGE Baseline Survey was developed by Flewelling RL, Paschall MJ, Ringwalt CL. (1993). It is designed to measure Delinquent and disciplinary behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (aged 12-17).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 9 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Within the past month, 2 = Between 1 and 6 months ago, 3 = Between 6 months and 1 year ago, 4 = Over 1 year ago, 5 = Never.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- No self-reported delinquent behavior within the past year: 0 – 0
- Low level of self-reported delinquent behavior within the past year: 1 – 3
- Moderate level of self-reported delinquent behavior within the past year: 4 – 6
- High level of self-reported delinquent behavior within the past year: 7 – 9
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
