Scale Overview
The Friends’ Delinquent Behavior—Denver Youth Survey (FDB-DYS) was developed by Institute of Behavioral Sciences, University of Colorado (1987). It is designed to measure Peer delinquency. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and young adults (ages 12-24).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = None of them, 1 = Very few of them, 2 = Some of them, 3 = Most of them, 4 = All of them.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 0 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low exposure to peer delinquency: 0 – 1
- Moderate exposure to peer delinquency: 1 – 2
- High exposure to peer delinquency: 2 – 4
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
