Scale Overview
The Safe Dates Dating Violence Victimization Scale was developed by Foshee V. A., Linder F., Bauman K. E., et al. (1996). It is designed to measure Dating Violence Victimization. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents (specifically grades 8-9).

This instrument consists of 18 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Physical Victimization, Sexual Victimization.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = 1 to 3 times, 2 = 4 to 9 times, 3 = 10 or more times.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 54. Interpretation guidelines:
- No reported victimization: 0 – 0
- Low level of victimization: 1 – 18
- Moderate level of victimization: 19 – 36
- High level of victimization: 37 – 54
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
