Scale Overview
The Relative’s Accommodation of Anxiety Scale (R-RADS) was developed by Dianne L. Chambless (2010). It is designed to measure Family Accommodation of Anxiety. The scale is intended for use with Family members and significant others of individuals with anxiety disorders.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 16 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Rarely, 2 = Several times week, 3 = Daily, 4 = Multiple times a day.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 64. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Score (Higher scores indicate greater accommodation): 0 – 64
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
