Scale Overview
The Eating Disorders Inventory – EDI was developed by David M. Garner, Marion P. Olmsted, Janet Polivy (1983). It is designed to measure Eating disorder symptoms and associated psychological features. The scale is intended for use with Clinical and non-clinical adolescents and adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 64 items organized into 8 factors/subscales: Drive for Thinness, Bulimia, Body Dissatisfaction, Ineffectiveness, Perfectionism, Interpersonal Distrust, Interoceptive Awareness, Maturity Fears.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Always, 2 = Usually, 3 = Often, 4 = Sometimes, 5 = Rarely, 6 = Never.
The scale includes 19 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
